Burton's Burlington headquarters employs 400 and was honored as 2014 BBA Business of the Year.
In 1977, Jake Burton Carpenter founded Burton Snowboards out of his Vermont barn and has dedicated his life to snowboarding. Burton has played a pivotal role in growing snowboarding from a backyard hobby to a world-class sport by creating ground-breaking products, supporting a team of top snowboarders, and pushing resorts to allow snowboarding. Today, Burton designs and manufactures industry-leading products for snowboarding and the snowboard lifestyle. Privately held and owned by Jake and his wife, Burton President Donna Carpenter, the company has called Vermont home for over 37 years. Burton has always supported local riders and the community, especially through the non-profit Chill organization, which Jake & Donna founded in Burlington in 1995 to bring snowboarding to kids who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity. In addition, Burton is proud to support local organizations like the South End Arts & Business Association Art Hop, the planBTV South End Crawl, the Parks Foundation of Burlington and NFI. Burton welcomes the community to drop by its headquarters at 80 Industrial Parkway where the company’s flagship store is open seven days a week. Free public tours are also available on weekdays at 1pm & 3pm at Craig’s, Burton's state-of-the-art prototype facility dedicated to the late snowboard icon Craig Kelly.
