Burlington, VT- The Burlington Business Association (BBA) is proud to announce David Provost, Vice President for Finance & Administration at Middlebury College, as the winner of the 2017 Tim Halvorson Business Person of the Year Award.
Before starting his job at Middlebury College in January, Provost spent 12 years at Champlain College as Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration. Provost also spent time as Vice President of finance and operations and later Executive Vice President of Skis Dynastar S.A. During his tenure at Champlain College, Provost championed Champlain College’s first ever Master Plan as well as efforts to finance and develop 10 new campus facilities.
Among key projects is the Eagles Landing Development on St. Paul Street, which will add 105 units of student housing, providing Champlain College students the opportunity to live downtown while working towards alleviating Burlington’s housing shortage.
In addition to his work at Champlain College, Provost has volunteered with The Boys & Girls Club of Burlington, chaired the Burlington Telecom Advisory Board and chaired the Wake Robin Board of Directors. Provost served as a member of the BBA Board of Directors from 2013-2016.
“As long as I’ve known David, he’s been someone with a drive to improve not only the organizations he has worked for, but the greater Burlington community.” Said BBA Executive Director Kelly Devine.
“I couldn’t be happier for David winning this award. He is responsible for a long list of contributions to this community and this recognition is long overdue,” said BBA Board Member and award namesake Tim Halvorson.
Formerly the Nate Harris Award, the Tim Halvorson Award was established in 2009 and acknowledges an individual’s “outstanding contributions to the economic vitality of Burlington.” The award seeks to recognize a local businessperson who presents the combination of being a business leader whose work has promoted the economic vitality of Burlington, and who has devoted their time, energy and resources to the betterment of the Burlington community.
