Select Design Wins BBA’s 2017 Hertzel Pasackow Architectural Excellence Award

Burlington, VT- The Burlington Business Association (BBA) is proud to name Select Design as the 2017 winners of the Hertzel Pasackow Architectural Excellence Award. Established in 1986, the award honors Hertzel Pasackow, owner of the Mayfair on upper Church Street, and founding member of both the BBA and the Church Street Marketplace. This award honors “significant contribution to the physical or architectural quality of Burlington.”

This year’s award is presented to Select Design, who completed significant interior and exterior work on their office space on Flynn Avenue in Burlington. Burlington based SAS Architects has worked with Select since 2004, renovating and reinventing the spaces in a vintage factory building that was originally home to the Vermont Milk Chocolate Company into the early 1920’s. Workspaces were designed to respond to the specific needs of each department within Select, all manner and size conference rooms provide a variety of spaces that range from relaxed brainstorming sessions to formal client presentations. The building can boast of several green upgrades as well, including a 40 kw solar array, a high efficiency HVAC system and an extensive stormwater management system.

A slender three story addition in 2014 provides code compliant accessibility to the three floors that house Select’s administration and fabrication spaces. The main entry seamlessly unites three levels around a central communicating stair and reception area that features Select’s branding and design work in an environment that was created from the repurposing of the original building materials and equipment.
