After a long summer of construction, the Waterfront Access North project is nearing completion! On November 23rd at 10:00am, please join Mayor Miro Weinberger, Senator Leahy, and Governor Shumlin for a ribbon cutting event. The event will take place at the Waterfront Action North project site, near the entrance of the skate park.
The $9.1 million overhaul began in August of 2014, the most significant infrastructure development in nearly two decades. The once gravel pit behind the Moran Plant is now home to a beautiful new skatepark with a newly widened and realigned bike path running behind it, parallel to Lake Street. The project has also added storm water control and proper lighting to the path in order to keep maintenance costs low. In addition, the project has created a field for the future Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center building, helps with the revitalization of the Moran Plant, and makes adding a new marina possible.
We encourage you to come down and see the great improvements that have been made to the waterfront.
